March News from The Witch’s Therapist
Welcome to the season of fishes, inviting you all to usher in this watery and illusionary energy that will spring you open into the first Eclipse of this year. I’m Aarushi, a fellow fish and a psychotherapist with The Witch's Therapist, writing this month’s newsletter.
This month astrologically, seasonally, and metaphorically asks us to practice the art of surrender. This period guides us to deepen our relationship with the unknown bridging the transcendental with the material. After the hibernating winters where we allowed ourselves to cocoon into our bodies and minds, the season now shifts to bring an opportunity to purge and release what doesn't serve us by burrowing it into the earth, allowing it to float up into space, allowing it to sink into the depths of the ocean or become ash in the flames.
As we navigate the oceanic waters of Pisces season, we are reminded that our inner world shapes our outer reality and the energy we cultivate ripples out into the collective. As we move through this month, the season brings with it a renewal potion- awakening your senses and inviting us to sip from the potion of life force again.
What I’ve Been Thinking About This Month
Here we are, wading through the tides of February, that heart-shaped portal where winter’s hush still lingers, yet tiny pulses of warmth begin to whisper new stories into our bones. It’s the dance of emergence—a sacred wrestle between the old and the becoming.
This year I decided to set an intention to dance along the seasons, try and allow myself to ebb and flow with the natural rhythms of the earth. What that essentially means is to be able to control what I can and try to invite the quality of surrender and grace to what I can’t. And let me say, this was and still has been a process of intensity. I've learned that pushing brings greater resistance. But my intention provided me the reminder to open my heart and invite surrender. Was it difficult? Hell yes, but what I noticed was that as I tried to ACTIVELY let go of the internal control and resistance, the seasons felt softer, as the emotions stayed less longer.
I am inviting you to trust that within your own humanness and deepest potential lies that life force which will sprout again, when we can let some warmth of love and joy act as nutrients. So this whisper is a call to soften, to lean into the sweetness that follows surrender. The inspiration blooms in those moments when we stop gripping and start allowing. There is an intelligence in the pause, a wisdom in the unguarded heart.
Inspiration for This Month
Heart Opening Through Surrender
This month, I find myself moving more intentionally to the rhythm I wish to invite and a hope to create spaces for others to embark into their own body wisdom. Slow mornings, where breath and presence take precedence over productivity. Choosing health over haste. Trading time for vitality. It feels like an act of rebellion, a soft rebellion to unburden those parts with a function that matches their true nature—an uncoupling from the hum of capitalism’s feverish pulse. Instead, listening for the steady heartbeat of the present moment and letting it lead.
As a nature therapist, I see themes in nature that act as the compass to understand themes of my inside nature. I believe that if we are a part of nature and made up of those same ingredients and components, then we do move with these seasons, it's just we resist, because we think we know or we can get ahead of the time. But I learnt that maybe we can’t and even if we can, what’s the fun in that? Doesn’t that feed into disconnection?
This all led me to witness some themes and symbols that I would love to share with you and notice what it sparks within you as you just let the imagination steep- so notice the air— are there shifts in the temperature, colours around, the snow hardening first to prepare to melt, plans for summer, awaiting the colors, renewal of the soil, warmth of the sun, birds coming home, and more and more to come. After being inside for a while, how can you just notice the outside changes and notice the inside changes?
What am I wrestling with this month?
The Dance of Consciousness
Ah, the paradox of being human. Even as we dream ourselves forward, the familiar tug of the past can creep in—those habitual loops, old emotional scripts written in the ink of history. The work this month is to notice, to bring light to what lurks in shadow. Inviting the light of the sun to amp up the beam up your awareness. As Carl Jung reminds us, until we make the unconscious conscious, it directs our lives, and we call it fate. So, this is the practice: to awaken to the patterns before they weave themselves into destiny. To sit with the echoes of winter and, instead of being consumed, learn to alchemize them into new melodies.
It’s in these moments of intensities we notice ourselves moving back to those habitual patterns of thinking, moving and breathing- whether that's taking shorter breaths, a way of thinking, or moving faster. And can you match this moment of intensity with the intensity of your breath?
Some journal prompts that helped me move through this process, hoping these can your anchor as well:
What is inspiration to you?
How does it feel to be inspired?
When do you feel most inspired?
Are there any areas in your life where you feel uninspired? Why? What inhibits your inspiration?
What are the activities or who are the people that make you feel inspired and why?
What are the things that feel uncomfortable for you to do, but that leave you with a surge of energy and inspiration?
