February News from The Witch’s Therapist

Happy February, witches! It's Maggie here, writing this month's newsletter.

It’s wild to think that January is almost over. We are (hopefully) hunkered down, bundled up, keeping cozy, much like the chrysalis of a butterfly. This is a time of deep rest (books, movies, eating and games), of silent reflection (meditation, journaling, journeying, art and crafting) and perhaps, for some of you, the start of a transformative journey of inner liberation.

What I’ve Been Thinking About This Month

I often think of the spiral when I think about any type of development. Spirals have been found since the dawn of time in cave paintings, and are now used in theories of personal transformation. Rather than believing that development happens all at once, the spiral reminds me that I am different each time I return to a familiar place. My journey of aligning with the seasons, particularly winter, happened gradually over the past ten years. Although I was once far from living in harmony with the seasons, I’ve made small changes each year to get closer to that alignment.

I offer this personal example because I often hear people discredit their work. In those moments, I invite them to notice what’s different about themselves; perhaps that they are aware of their situation where they once weren’t or perhaps, they are addressing it sooner, or utilizing skills and tools they didn’t previously have. The spiral of healing grants us perspective. We are never the same person in spite of finding ourselves in a similar location. The spiral is also why I believe reflection is so valuable. If we aren’t reflecting, we might not see just how far we have come.

I hope this helps you soften those harsh inner critics, or at least grants you some perspective and compassion on your journey.

Book Recommendation

Parable of the Sower – Octavia Butler
I’ve been reading a lot of fantasy/sci-fi as an act of self-care but also in hopes that our collective imagination might provide us with a way out of the large scale mess we find ourselves in.

The novel follows a young woman who can feel the pain of others (hello fellow empaths) and becomes displaced from her home. As she embarks on her journey, a community forms and they learn of a spirituality titled Earthseed. The book highlights the different ways people receive and respond to spirituality, the challenges of faith, and the importance of perseverance, reflection and self-examination. It also reminds us about the importance of community and the need for radical hope. Octavia Butler, shows us that even in the bleakest of circumstances, we might survive and create something new.

Work Updates

Thank you to everyone who is embarking on The Magician’s Path. We had a wonderful response from the community and are wishing everyone well on this journey.

On the note of community, I want to take a moment and welcome Aarushi to The Witch’s Therapist. Aarushi joined us quietly in early January and is now well-situated to take on new clients. For those of you looking for someone with a strong Jungian perspective, Aarushi has completed advanced training from the Society of Analytical Psychology and is a member of The Jungian Centre. When I met with Aarushi, her love of nature and deep reverence for the body was part of what drew me to her. She’s completed training in Somatic Soul-Based Trauma Training and Nature-Based Therapy at the Somatic Nature Therapy Institute. Please join me in welcoming her.

That officially means that our whole team has space for new clients! Megan, Santyna, Aisha and Aarushi will all be holding free 15-minute consultations for those ready to begin their inner journey. Reply to this email to set up your consultation today!

As for me, I am working with the team in the background - helping Aarushi and Aisha birth some workshops, planning another Ketamine retreat and who knows what else. If you have a desire to see something from us, let us know - we would love to hear from the community what needs are present and dream something into existence.

Lastly, I am bringing together a group to take The EcoSattva Training together. It is designed for anyone who is suffering from the multiple crises manifesting around us, and who doesn’t want to hold this pain alone. There are eight core sessions that together create an archetypal journey to a place us beyond our familiar ways of looking, knowing, feeling and identifying. Guided by some of the world's most profound leaders, we’ll be supported in opening up, letting go, and coming to terms. We will get a discounted rate for enrolling in the program as a group. You can learn more about the program here and if you might be interested in joining this group, reply to this email. Details will unfold based on who decides to join us.
