What makes me different from other therapists?

  • I’m an Art Therapist!

    • Art therapy combines the creative process and psychotherapy, facilitating communication, self-exploration, self-expression, understanding, integration, and healing.

    • Imagery, colour, shape, symbolism and metaphor are used as part of the therapeutic intervention allowing one to express thoughts and feelings that may otherwise be difficult to articulate.

    • Art therapy focuses most on the process of art making, not the product itself.

    • Art Therapists are Masters-level trained clinicians with expertise in the dynamics of psychotherapy and visual arts.

  • I am here to walk alongside you on your journey while providing insight and support. I am not to be mistaken for an expert in your life, though; only you will ever hold that inner wisdom.

  • In my sessions, I strive to provide a warm space of relative safety to explore what lies beneath the surface through talking, art-making, somatic awareness, and other humanistic and relational modalities. Holding the hope that you feel comfortable engaging in uncensored self-exploration and know you have autonomy and choice in how we share space.

  • I offer support to children and adolescents 10+, teens, young adults, and adults around various life experiences including but not limited to trauma processing, grief/loss/bereavement, life transitions, spirituality, anxiety, stress, self-esteem, interpersonal relationships, and personal development.

  • I value authenticity, anti-oppressive community practice, embodied liberation, trauma-informed care, politicized therapy, ongoing reflection and empowerment.

  • I welcome incorporating ceremonial, ancestral and traditional healing practices in our sessions. This can include smudging, offerings to your healed ancestors for support, and more. Please do not hesitate to share about practices, ceremonies or rituals that are meaningful to you and your spirituality.

  • I am a heart-centred, imperfect human walking this earth just like you. I will always do my best to bring my full self to our sessions, which will show up as laughing, silliness, getting things wrong sometimes, embracing messiness and potentially shedding tears together. This is a judgement free zone, a space for showing up authentically!

How Aisha Works

Individual Therapy Session Cost: $160/session

  • I offer a sliding scale but don’t update this often enough to reflect the availability of reduced-rate sessions. Please let me know what rate would work for you and I will see what’s possible.

  • No art experience necessary. I am not an art teacher and this is not an art class, I will not judge or comment on your artistic ability. I will, however, get curious about the personal meaning behind your artwork and what the process of creating is like.

  • I invite work with children and adolescents 10+, teens, young adults, and adults

  • I REPEAT, I also work with adults!

    • No, you are never too old to be creative and make art! Art making is not only for children and has benefits for people of all ages.

    • You do not have to identify as an artist, artsy or creative in your personal life. My only ask is that you are willing to try new things and explore art-making with me at a pace that is comfortable for you (I know this can feel uncomfortable and scary!).

    • Many people grow up and lose their connection to art-making and creative expression for different reasons (told they are bad at it, artistic expression wasn’t valued, etc.) and that is okay. We can reconnect with your creative spirit together!

  • I offer services in-person (London, ON) and virtually across Ontario.

  • Sessions will likely include a mixture of talking, art-making, somatic connection and emotional processing.

“Art has a sacred role, a responsibility, to expose and confront dehumanizing, destructive, oppressive forces of our time.”

“Rarely, if ever, are any of us healed in isolation. Healing is an act of communion.”

— Bell Hooks

“At its best, activism is a form of healing. It is about what we do and how we show up in the world. It is about learning and expressing regard, compassion and love.
